Peter H. Diamandis BLOG - Upgrade Your Mindset.

My follow-up to “It is time…”

Written by Peter H. Diamandis | Jun 10, 2020

Last week I wrote a blog titled “It is time…” expressing my personal views (and that of my team) on the topic of social justice and anti-racism.

Following is a quick follow-up, to put a few things into action, and to offer a few resources.

P.S. Send any tips to our team by clicking here, and send your friends and family to this link to subscribe to Abundance Insider.

Contribute to the extent of your capacity

To start, I have learned about a number of organizations fighting in pursuit of social justice, redressing racially targeted wrongs, and uplifting Black communities.

As part of committing words to action, today I am making a donation to the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE).  This organization is in line with my personal vision (and that of my team) of helping to inspire and educate for the purpose of creating a more hopeful, compelling and abundant future for humanity.

Having anti-racism conversations with your friends, family and community

Conversation and education is power. And now, more than ever, learning and having open and honest conversations both at home and work about racism and social justice is critical.

To share a few things that I’ve done:

  1. At home, this has become a topic of dinner conversation between my wife, myself and our twin 9 year-old boys;
  2. I’ve educated myself (see below). One example is downloading and listening to Letter From Birmingham Jail (by Martin Luther King, Jr.)
  3. My team, for instance, has created a Slack channel dedicated to Black Lives Matter. We are sharing articles, spreadsheets, PDFs, books, podcasts, videos, etc. (See below).

On June 10, 2020, we will be participating in #ShutDownSTEM

Led by Particles for Justice, #ShutDownSTEM is a day for white and non-Black People of Color to educate themselves and define a detailed plan of action to carry forward.

Below are resources assembled by my team to facilitate the conversation.

Wishing everyone deep and meaningful conversations.

Best wishes,

Peter
